Parish Adult Faith Formation Leaders
"Each parish will designate an adult formation leader – authorized by the pastor and personally involved in ongoing formation – to assume primary responsibility for implementing the ministry of adult faith formation."
(Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us, #135)
In the Archdiocese of Detroit, this role is being enthusiastically implemented by various ministers in our parishes:
- Adult Faith Formation Coordinators
- Directors of Religious Education
- Directors of RCIA and Adult Faith Formation
- Pastoral Ministers with specific responsibility for adult faith formation
"The leader promotes the development of an effective adult faith formation team."
(Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us, #140)
"The leader works with other parish ministers to promote cohesive, effective adult faith formation programming."
(Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us, #141)
As Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us continually reminds us, the ministry of adult formation belongs to everyone; all on the parish team are involved in adult formation.
At the same time, the adult formation leader develops – from among the parishioners – an adult formation team. Within the parishes of the Archdiocese of Detroit, there are many and various teams and committees being formed for the ministry of adult formation:
- Adult Faith Formation team
- Adult Faith Formation committee of the Education Commission
- Adult Faith Formation coordinating committee
- Adult Faith Formation steering committee
As well as teams and committees for specific areas of ministry, such as:
- Baptismal Preparation
- Marriage Preparation
- Parents of Young Children
- Evangelization
- RCIA
- MOMS Ministry
- Grief Ministry
- Stephens Ministry
to name just a few.
